Emily Kretschmer Pottery

Ceramics for your Home

You are not an artist simply because you paint or sculpt or make pots that cannot be used. An artist is a poet in his or her own medium. And when an artist produces a good piece, that work has mystery, an unsaid quality; it is alive.”

About the Artist

At the young age of 22, Emily Kretschmer founded EK Pottery.  Today, at 25, she continues to make work in her free time in between life and a full time job. Graduating from The University of Vermont in 2016, her promising career as a ceramic artist began in high school and was revitalized in college.  With an apprenticeship under her belt, she moved home to Manhattan Beach, CA to kickstart her career surrounded by friends and family.  Working part time for Los Angeles ceramicists and part time on her own, she presented a new line of work at a show for the first time in December of 2016 to great success.

The work you see on the site today is a representation of that show.  The simple palette of blues, browns, and whites brings to mind the inherent rustic feel of pottery, and reminds us of days of old.

About the Work

All the work is hand-thrown by the artist herself.  Emily takes great care with every piece, making sure it is up to her standards before sending it off.

The work is cone 6 stoneware.  Everything is dishwasher safe and non-toxic.
